1976 air pump pulley

My 2.0 has a smog air pump. I have been able to free up the pump but the pulley- assembly has some issues. The pulley turns freely but where it attaches to the cooling fun seems to be broken. Being new to 914 I am not sure how to repair. The part seems to be a rubber compound. Is this part available or rebuild-able? Is it possible to make a metal part to attach the two pieces? being a California car they say it needs to be operational to be able to get smog. Any ideas??
thanks

Try High Performance House in Redwood City CA, Rich the owner has a huge selection of 914 parts I would be surprised if he did not have this part. 650 364-6234 He ships daily

else you might be able to locate it on The Samba VW website classified ads as some type IV busses also had a smog pump.

I believe that people have come up with creative solutions and bolted the pulley back together again. I may be confusing it with the steering coupler, but I think that someone has used part of a hockey puck for the job?

The pulley only has to last through the test itself. Once you've passed the test, I recommend removing the pulley to disable the pump. Make sure to give the pump a spin every month or so to make sure it stays free-turning, because you'll have to go through this dance in another two years.
