Engine hoist
Hi all,
Quick question, is there any way to safely lower the engine/transmission with an engine hoist? If so, how? Thanks! |

You can not use a hoist, at least easily. The easiest way is to get a floor jack that can lift the weight of the engine and transmission and use a large block of wood under the rear of the engine. A couple of helpers is nice to balance things front/rear and left/right,lower the jack and watch the top of the engine from the top so nothing gets ripped up. Or you can use the idea of four long jacking bolts to lower the assembly which takes a bit longer but can be safer depending on how mechanical you are?
Make sure to take pictures of everything you are disconnecting, especially since you appear to be new to 914's so all can be reassembled. |
