There are tons of Porsche repair shops in NoVA, but as far as 914's go I would probably try ASG first. Ray is the Potomac PCA's 914 tech specialist, and he runs a pretty sweet 1600 lbs 914-4 race car. I think Nathan (JMURiz) has used them before, maybe he can give you some more insite. They are located off RT29 in Fairfax. Welcome to the board, it's nice to see some other DC/NoVA people around. Here is a link to some other NoVA Porsche shops:

I'm actually still in the market for what will be my first 914 and want to see to make sure that I can get good assistance locally-JTF's response suggests that I can. Engine work is the area that gives me the most concern.
I am looking for a 73-76 2.0L in good shape so any leads or suggestions would be helpful. I have been down to Automobile Atlanta and have looked at a few cars there. Thanks for the help. |

As far as engine work is concerned...including machine and assembly, I have a 25 year history with Peek Performance in Seabrook, MD...Yes they are a VW shop (aircooled) and have a lot of experience with type 4 vws. They can also deal with just aout anything repair related to the car brakes to head work. You will, however, have to go to Pelican for PARTS>>>> hey thats the name...http://www.peekperformance.com/

If you are still looking for a 914 I have a freind who has a '73 2.0L with all the goodies for sale in Richmond. I'll give you his name if you are still looking.
If you need any 914 help let me know. I should be done with my '74 in the spring. Best of luck, hope to see you on the road next year ![]() Kerry H

Correct I have used Ray from ASG, the prices are supposedly on the high side...but hey, he knows his stuff!!! Also if you are lucky you can go back in the shop and take a look at his car as well as some of the Speedvision Cup cars they work on. I'm actually going to look for a 914 mechanic in the Herndon/Sterling area. I'll post when I find one that is decent. But for serious engine work I'd say Ray is the man.
Nathan PS: I almost forgot, DO NOT buy a car from Auto Atlanta. Be patient and look around, you'll find something better and cheaper

Even better, do a search on this site for "Mike Zois". He runs an export business for 914s from SoCal (land of no rust), and can find you a very, very nice car. Drop him a line and talk it out; you'll be very glad you did.

If you live out near Dulles, the guys at Dulles Motorsports have always done well by me. They are also good for pointers on who/where to go for odds & ends. Dr. John's is out here, too. DMS is having their annual fall swap meet this Sunday.
