Broken bearing retainers....trailing arms

Found both bearing retainers broke while pulling things apart a few weekends ago. Thought maybe I might have caused the damage while knocking hub out (sleeve used to press hub from inside swingarm too large and may have contacted inner race) but I checked the opposite side "prior" to removing hub. Found it split down the middle as well. Since I used the same tool to remove both sides with only 2-3 wacks on the hub needed to free from bearing, I don't think it was the tool chosen for job.

Maybe the PO broke bearing retainers during his rear bearing removal???? Don't have a good answer for this but will replace as part of my 5 lug upgrade. Thought about using as is but common sense tells me to replace.
