914 Wheels

I Looking for a light autocross wheel 7X16 for 205/40/16 tires that will fit under stock fenders on a 914. OR, is there a better autocross setup?

Thanks for any input

Ricardo

Ricardo,
I have 16X8X4 bolt on my car right now. They are american racing rims "black", they are for autoX per "PO of the rims". I have been trying to find some aftermarket rims that are more for show and similar in size and width. I'm not sure if you could tuck these under.

oh duh,...forgive me...
My car has a Rayco body kit so I'm 8" wider. The tires I have on them now are 275X50X16 . I think I should have re-read your post with your "stock" width statement. Maybe they won't fit..

most people run 15" rims (5.5, 6 and 7" in 4 bolt and 5 bolt) since tire selection is much better and due to the rules for a lot of regions (PCA and SCCA)

no 4 lug rims in 16" off the shelf, so you'd have to have some 3 piece rims made...pricey

a few 4 lug and 5 lug 15x7 and 17x7 rims are available
(200+ each)

I believe that there are one or two manufacturers who do very very small runs of 16" or 17" wheels that wind up with the 914 bolt pattern. You can take a look over on http://www.ttrsracing.com for the "Revolution" wheels, and I wouldn't be that surprised to hear that Panasport has made some in the past.

Panasport makes 4-bolt race wheels too, but the larger sizes are custom and fairly spendy. Beyond 15x6 or 15x7 sizes, it's more attractive for most guys to do a 5-lug conversion and go to 911 wheels.
