If I have decent but "unique" paint color..How do I get touch up paint?

P.O. had excellent paint job done (rustproofing/bodywork/etc) but HIDEOUS paint color. Its some sort of Gold or Bronze metallic paint. Is there a way to have an automotive paint store "match" it with a paint chip for touch up purposes much like interior house paints or am I s.o.l.? I am asking because some a**hole door dinged my car not once but TWICE at lunch today. I have only had car 12 days, I can't believe it I am about to cry.

Yes, a good automotive paint store usually has a scanner similar to what is used at the hardwear store. I don't recommend trying to spray large sections, but for small chips it should be fine. One tip, on high metallic or metal flake colors, have the store error toward the base color vs. the metallic content. To much of the metallic will cause a much more noticable repair vs. to little metallic. Too bad about the repair, it is amaizing how people treat each other any more.Rude.

Here's a tip my paint shop gave me.. don't use a brush to touch up the chip. Instead tear a narrow strip from the newspaper. Dip the tip of the strip lightly into the paint and let the excess drain away. Then lightly drag the paper across the chip. No excess paint, no brush marks.
