Pressure control unit
Hi all:
Have a 2.7 six in my '73 914. The PMO pressure control unit is showing no pressure on the gauge but the engine is running fairly well. Seems to be using gas hard. Adjustment of the unit seems to make no difference. We are just rebuilding this and are not sure if it has worked properly at all. Should we look for a fuel line leak? Doug: |

I had a different pressure regulator and gauge on my 914-6 vintage race car but the gauge always showed pressure, in my case about 3.5 pounds at idle. I would suggest calling PMO to see what they say and probably want you to send it back so they can overhaul it?
Not sure what "using gas hard" means......if it is too rich then the regulator is setting carb pressure too high and probably causing some flooding of the carbs. What do the plugs look like? With my race engine, set at 3.5# fuel pressure, I would use about 5 1/2 gallons of gas in a 30 minute race and at $8.00 or more per gallon that was "hard" usage! |
