I have a picture I can e-mail you. It's too big to post on this page.

When I called weber they said that the lcross bar should go at the front of the engine since the cable on the fi came from the back right. Does this sound right? all the other pics iI just looked at come from the front. BTW I have a 76 2.0 formerly a D/jet.

Here's a pic of my first 914 dual carb install. It's admittedly bad, but the bracket is the same as Scott Schroeder's on page 2 of the other thread that Paul Heery posted.

Here is a Pic of mine. You can see the whole thing in the first pic and a closeup of the "angle iron" bracket in the second pic. It actually bolted right up with no issues. I did purchase one of those custom brackets and it did not come close to working. I have since installed a Terry cable which seems to be a little bit longer so I have it looped through some SS washers to shorten the overall length a little. I love my carbs!!! and I love rebuilding them...three times in one year (but that is probably because I do not run full aircleaners). Oh well, a labor of love!!! Raby does some absolutely beautiful installs, you should peek at the pics on his sight if you want a good guide of how it really should be.

i can not suggest this strongly enough. get bob tomlinsons weber book from cb performance. what you need to do before you bolt them on will save you hours of frustration, what you need to do after will save you days.

JB, what keeps that piece of angle from flopping around? I've seen several carb'ed 914s disabled (temporarily) due to a similar-looking bracket pivoting on its mounting bolt... I would suggest some kind of fore-and-aft extension of the base of it to keep the thing from pivoting.

The way the angle iron is, it sits around the corner of the base that it is sitting on. I left it long enough at the bottom such that it can get enough leverage not to move around. Since the throttle cable pulls forward, it is nicely cantilevered to work with the pressure created in that direction. I totally agree that I should eventually put some type of bracket there to connect to the next bolt on the case and I plan on doing that the next time it is out of the car. However, I check it occasionally and luckily have not found it to come loose at all. I did use a locknut down there to keep the hardware from loosening up.
