Well, Rennlist is the evolution of Porschelist, a mailing list for Porsche owners/fans. Like the Pelican BBS, it's an e-community of Porsche folks.
While Rennlist has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years, it's core is the listserver, that provides an email based discussion group. You can subscribe to the lists, in both individual message format or in digest format. You can check out the mailing lists at http://www.rennlist.com/lists.htm . You will see many of the same faces there as you do here. The lists are free to subscribe, use and read - but a voluntary donation will make you a Rennlist member, and there are lots of benefits to that. hope this helps, Rusty |

You can also just use the web interface without receiving any email (individual or digest) at all. It has a search fuction as well, although it takes some practice to figure out how to best use it (the search function that is).

It's the same kind of stuff but there are some talented people there who don't post here.

My observation (as a member of both since 1999) is that the 914 and 911 Rennlist email groups have declined in the overall quality and quantity of posts. A lot of it is non-technical "chat", which is fine for what it is, but IMHO Pelican has surpassed Rennlist in terms of relevant content. The Rennlist web boards, except the 911 one, are also very low traffic.
Still, there are distinct differences in the two "communities" and both are worthwhile exploring.

Its boring and everything (like here) has been covered 50 times and people need to learn how to use the search engine..
I like PP BBS because I can show you what to do without moving pics to my server. I also like Dave and Wayne. B |

Its takes more than that to ruffle my feathers.
Why would I dislike them for doing their jobs ?? (Dave had to get Waynes help on the removal) I get bored easily if I dont push the envelope once or twice a month. B |

I look at both BBS's but Pelican is easier to use and post pics on. Rennlist has more "chat" from the guys in Calif. I have been posting on Rennlist since the old Porschelist days. Besides DD and Brad are here on Pelican .....hehe like that makes a difference.
There are guys on both BBS's that know their "Stuff". You hit it on the nail head about repeat posts, Brad! Same old stuff mostly, maybe a bigger headline for the search engine in 30pt type about how to use it would do the trick. I really read the "Hipo tricks" mostly, mods that I can make to my car to make it faster, quicker, better... Geoff

I hadn't really noticed that the same old topics get repeated over and over.

Only real difference I can see is that Pelican's board doesn't cover in depth the plight of the Dingle or MO and how these poor animals are being brought to the edge of extinction by the automotive customizers in North America.
(sometimes I just hate myself ;-) |

I can take a few punches.. I deal enough of them.. I can take them also.
I had planned to attend SEMA and just party anyway.. but I'm moving the Palo Alto shop north to SSI and plan to be there full time by Nov. 10th or so. I'm swamped with the move. I'm also dealing with my grandfathers death (dads side).. timing is not good. Right now I spend 5 days a week in Palo Alto and 2 days a week at SSI. I have a lot of work ahead of me up there. I would like to sleep in my own bed more than 2 days a week LOL. I do plan to attend the PRI show in Indy (my sister lives there) Wayne, keep up the good work. I know you work your butt off and it will pay off.. promise. B |
