Rfoulds - you're really selling it!?!

I did not think you were serious about selling your car since you kept talking about upgrades on this board. It looks like it is going to sell in a day!

Baby vs. Car. You can alway find another car.

Yep. I am NOT happy to see it go. I struggled with this one for a long time. I drove the car Sunday and I just about cried when I put it back in the garage. It is the closest thing to a full out race car I have ever driven. I have had numerous corvettes, I have driven a friends Ferrari 308 many times...

Nothing feels like a 914-6.

I am buying a 944 turbo to replace it for now. I will have another 914-6 some day.

by the way...
You wouldn't believe some of the questions I get from E-bayers.
"does it have power steering?" "is it a tiptronic?" "how good does the a/c work?"

I pray this car does not end up in the hands of some fool.

Baby! I have a baby on the way and I just went and bought a converted '73 with 2.7. Keep the car and the baby. What's $16,000 in grand scheme of things.
good luck with both.

ps - Thank god my wife doesn't read these posts, she might get ideas!

Is there back seats? Is there more leg room for the back passengers?

Okay...
Its like a tiptronic. You can shift it without the clutch if you know what you are doing...
Power steering? Put the original BIG steering wheel back on.
a/c is great! undo four latches, and let the roof fly off.
cup holders are sporadic. They only work when there is someone to hear you say, "here. hold this."
airbags are deactivated for now. I don't know where the switch is to REactivate them though...
back seat passengers have lots of leg room. but they have to face backwards and hang their legs out the trunk.

And finally, PLEASE help me find it a good home!!!

In all seriousness it is a damn good deal....

If anyone is considering a /6 or doing a conversion, BUY THIS CAR! You won't see many (any) like this for the price again....

Just showed it to my wife..."hey honey I think you'd look *****'n behind that ride." She said "gee hon just about what you've spent on that thing in the garage....THAT STILL DOESN'T RUN!!"

Very nice ride though and looks like a steal at that price..

Gotta go..need to get the cot set up next to "that thing"

At this time tomorrow, it will have a new owner. It will be VERY SAD loading on a transport. I hope whoever buys it flies in and drives it home.

Baby? I drive my 5 month girl to daycare every morning. She loves it. Why a 944?

I'm with Mike D. I bought my 914 and a boat prior to my son's arrival. Having a kid is the greatest thing in the world but haven't a kid and a couple toys doesn't suck. I based my decision on my old man. He's always wanted a 56 Chevy like the one he had before I unexpectedly came along. He bought a fixer upper in 1983 and hasn't touched it since. I'm glad I bought the car when I had some cash because daycare, braces, hockey equipment, cars, college, etc... for the next 20+ years doesn't leave alot of disposable income! I guess do whats best for your situation.

Randy, enjoy being a Dad, it's great. Is it your first?

Good luck,
Tom

I will ALWAYS have toys! As for being a dad, I already have an eight year old son that is the great joy of my life!
The baby coming means mommy won't be going back to work. No second income, time to tighten the belt.
But I have too much cash tied up in 5 different cars. Selling the 6 was the best solution, keeping the family sedan for my wife and soon-to-be 2 kids. Her new Beetle will be sold as well to get me a daily driver.
I am NOT driving her 2.0 Beetle with an automatic!

People complain about Ebay.... its the one place where I see Porsche related things selling. The audience is HUGE.

Sorry to see it go, but when it comes time there will be another.

No complaints on EBAY from me. I have a 72 going to a new owner in a day or two at $4500, or maybe more. Local paper, no calls, AutoTrader, no calls. Love EBAY.
PS. Brad sorry to read about your grandfather.

Well, it sold. For only $14k. I lost $3,000 on it in three months. But I had a great time on the track with it.

Keep your eye out for it in Martinez CA. The new owner has a 911 and a 912. His name is Jack Russo. ANyone know where Martinez is? Is that in the Bay area??

Sounds like it is going to a good home, a fellow air-cooler. I'm sure it will like it's new cousins

Later,

OK Randy, just tell us when he picks it up so we can revoke your membership!

Just kidding - don't be a stranger - you won't have as much fun with the teenagers on the 944 board as you do here.
