engine wire harness help
I am trying to get a 914 running from a complete tear down and restore. It is a mixture of various years of cars. The wire harnesses are from a 76. I am running Dinjection from the same year.
The T 12 Connector has these pins set up. pin 1 = Green/Red to oil press sendr pin 2 = whiteish to transmission sender pin 3 = empty pin 4 = whiteish to transmission sender pin 5 = black (small) to coil???????? (Hot with ign. on) pin 6 = Yellow to starter solinoid pin 7 = BLACK(large) to coil???????? (Not Hot? ign on or off) pin 8 = empty pin 9 = empty pin 10 = green pin 11 = green (11 and 10 jumped w/ short green wire) pin 12 = white with a spade insulator to aux air or coil??? The biggest question is where to put pins 5 and 7?? also pin 12? I think this is why I am not getting any power to my fuel pump momentary or otherwise.

Hey Capn
Pin 12 is the white wire to the Aux Air Regulator. I would need to review other docs at home to tell you which black wires go to which pins...BTW one is black/red, the other is black/purple and both go to the coil. You may be able to find the info on the elect diagrams here on this site, I just don't have time to look. CAUTION: A 76 2.0 GC code FI harness will only work on a 75 or 76 D-Jet FI setup, because the Thermotime switch is 2 pole and wired differently than the earlier cars. It can be made to work, just needs to be modified. No power to teh fuel pump could be several things, there is a fuel pump trouble shooting section on Brad Anders site you will want to check out. http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders/FPChecklist_frame.htm |

Coil power is thicker black and may or nay not have a red stripe (depends on the year). Tach signal is thinner black/purple. The purple fades to brown or near-black, so look carefully.

Pin 5 is black-purple, connects to coil terminal 1
Pin 7 is black-red, connects to coil terminal 15 |
