heater lever

Is there a difference between the heater lever in a car with a console and one without a console? If you add a console to a car that originally come with one do you have to change the heater lever or will the origonal one work?

The center-console one has a "zig zag" bend to it.

I think you can probably tweak things to make it all work without bending the lever, but I'm not sure. Certainly making your own panel there is a possibility, then you can have the slot moved over to accomodate a non-bent lever.
