914 's in the movies!!

I did this on Volvo's brickboad BBS a couple of years ago, and it was fun/useful. I personally don't recall single a movie that prominently features a Porsche 914 as a main character's wheels or otherwise, or shows a new one in the period driving around.
Anyone out there have and good examples of 914's in motion
pictures?

9-5 w/ Dolly Parton. My wife was watching it last week while I read. I just happened to look up and saw a 914 parked. I believe we see it again on the street.

Anyway, I was quite excited; ,y wife just rolled her eyes.

Hawaii Five-O had an episode with a car theft ring and a 914

VH-1/Mtv biographies on Ice-T (had a pimped out 914 when he was a drug dealer) and Eric somebody ( a teen idol who wreaked in a 914)

Rockford files Jim's lawyer had a 74-75 orange 914

Vacation--

There is a nice white 914 in Vacation. I think it's when the fam gets to Wally World.

Been searching for pics of the car in Chico and the Man. Anyone encounter those?

How about the movie Le Mans!!!!!!! There are several brief scenes with the 914 that I believe actually finished first in class and 6th overall. in the 1970 (or was it 1971) race. IIRC there's even a part that shows the 914 passing a 911! By the way, the teen idol who wrecked a 914 was Leif Garrett.

There was this Asain film with Jett Lee in it I saw not too long ago. Its an older film but it had (I believe) a 73 with the porsche logo on the rockers in yellow. It was the main feature in one scene wher the spy (I think it was Jett or some chick) was being chased and the bad guys were shooting at the 914 with the person on the other side. Funny thing thinking that a 914 could stop a bullet. Also it had the gas fill flap located on the side near the back and it exploded when the rear took a round. All very strange but it was a 914 in the actual full shots. I wish that I could remember the movie it was from.

In the movie "13 Ghosts" at the beginning in the junkyard, there is a wrecked 914 at the top of one of the stacks of cars...probably 40 feet high. It shows up 2-3 times, but just quick like.

I like watching old CHiPs shows. Every once in a while a 914 will show up in the back ground. But it is hard to see them through the glare from Ponch's teeth.

There is a Rockford Files episode where Jim has to get the Firebird fixed and drives a 914 for an entire show. Bahia Red I think it was.

It was on a while back on TVLand. Anyone got that on tape? (Beta I presume?)

When I was in HS, they showed a drivers ed movie. In it was a 914 that past a full size buick. Then the 914 had to go into the the gas station to fill up. The movie was trying to say that one should drive slowly to conserve gas...

Anyone else remember seeing this 'Drivers Ed' class

rockford also made some smart ass remark in an episode, something like " what did you expect? a secretary in a mid-engine porsche" . in the one where he was driving his lawyers car i think he barked em in 1 & 2. james garner was quite a race car driver in the 60's and early 70's.

You may be right on that Rockford thing Kevin.

BTW, although he may or may not have wrecked a 914 at some point, I think the car that actually paralyzed Leif's friend was a 924. That's what it looked like in the news footage on the "Behind The Music" deal. It rolled down a hill, which is one of the few things that isn't very likely in a 914.

I've gotta agree with Kenny here. Leaf Garret paralysed his friend in a black 914. I saw that Behind the Music episode, and although the picture of the wrecked car was taken at night, I'm sure it was a 914.

I must not have been paying good enough attention to the show. The accident scene I remember had a light colored mangled car that looked 924-ish to me. Maybe I am combining two episodes here....

I used to be the biggest Dukes of Hazard fan as a kid and a while back I was watching an old rerun when TNN was still playing them. Well it was the same old stuff, jumping cars and police chases. When out of the blue there was an Olympic blue 914 parked near the town square in Hazard. Even in the hills there are teener people. More like the Hollywood hills, hehehe

. If you ever catch the episode where Bo and Luke are driving a Semi truck with illegal gamblers in the back then watch out for this car.

I just remembered the movie "Lifeguard" with Sam Elliott filmed in '76. He quit his lifeguard job to work selling Porsches in So. Cal. There were several shots of 914s shown at the dealership. In the end he went back to being a lifeguard...go figure.

And... I remember a Hawaii 5-0 where the bad guy drove a 914. There were several scenes with it driving around at a marina.
