How do you test the ECU?
Right now, I am trying to test all the fuel injection components and am wondering if and how you can test the fuel injection brain. I have had the car running, barely. The fuel pump works like it is supposed to, the injectors spray...but how do i know if the brain is working properly.
Thanks for all the help, Paul |

About the only way to do that is to rent the FI tester from Pelican. The more common thing to do is to eliminate every other possible source of problems, then replace the ECU. Or, if you're lucky enough to have a friend with spares, see if you can borrow one of his.
Hmm, where are you located, anyway, and what year/displacement do you have? --DD |

Dave,
I happen to be in Memphis, TN. I did find the article about renting the tester from Pelican. What is the resistance supposed to be for the fuel injectors. I come up with about 3 ohms on all of them at about 80 degrees F. I think they are good, but am not sure. My 914 is a '73 2.0l. Thanks for the response, Paul [This message has been edited by paulhagedorn (edited 08-09-1999).] |

My car is also a '73 2.0L. I believe that the resistance of the injectors should be 2.4 ohms at 68 F. My injectors all measured 2.5 ohms of resistance at about that temperature.
