16" Fuch vs glass flares

I am going to put a set of flares on my car and go to 5bolt via PPs adapters. I have a line on a set of 16" 6&7s, I think from a mid 80s Carrera. Anybody know if this combo will fit? Dave? anyone?

No problem. If they are regular width flares, you can go 9" in the rear and 8" in the back, so even with adapters, the sixes and sevens should be no problem. You may even have to space them out a little (you might have too much fender to tire clearance).

I am running Fuchs 16x7s 911 part # on my 75 1.8 and my 74 914-6, neither car has flares and neither car has a rubbing problem. The fronts were spaced on both cars. I did roll the rear lip , but nothing to extreme.
Using Dunlop 205x45x16 tires, work great for street and DE. Could use something a little sticky I'M sure for autoX.
I am thinking about getting a set of the John Kelly flares, they look excellent and will allow for 8x9 x16 Fuchs.

I would recommend against using the four-to-five adaptors. I don't think they're safe enough to use on a 914 that is driven the way that I feel 914s "should" be driven.

I think that you should do the job correctly if you're going five-bolt.

Thanks Dave, I found a 911T front end and I am going to go that route.

I think that I will have better luck getting everything to fit right, possibly without flaring the car. I am sure that the fronts 205/55/16s will fit no prob, but does anyone know if the rears 16x7 225/50/16 will fit without flaring if I drill the hubs?

Generally, no. Unless you are super lucky with having a 914 that "runs wide" and having just the right offset on the five-lug wheels (and using a 225 that is relatively narrow for a 225) you will not fit 225s under stock rear fenders.

Most of the time you can fit a 205. I have heard of a very few lucky people running 215s with little or no fender modification. But that's it, as far as I've heard. And some 914s will only let you get 195s under the rear fenders.

I had a feeling.....

I 'test fit' them by just holding them up to the hub and looking. I laughed out loud.

That is weird about the sizing of these things. The car I am replacing fit 205s on 4 bolt fuchs with at least an inch to spare.

It looks like fender rolling party time at my house.

I will let you guys know how it goes after I get the hubs drilled
