Ditron 812D Bosch D-Jetronic tester
Hi,
does anyone here own a Ditron 812D tester, too? ![]() ![]() ![]() I own such a device, but without any instruction. It once came to Europe with the instruction, but it got lost. I bought the Ditron some months ago on ebay from switzerland - the seller told me he had bought it many years ago at ebay USA. It's no problem for me to understand and use the basic testing functions, but this tester is not only a testing - but an ECU-simulating device. I don't really need the Ditron 812D to diagnose or optimize my car - I own other testers. But because the D-Jetronic-system is my hobby, I would like to understand the additional function, i.e. what the manufacturer intended the user to test / adjust with it. Hope that someone still has the instruction for the tester... My tester has serial #119 - don't know how many were built at all. Paul B. Anders described the tester: D-Jetronic Testers as being similar to the Janbo Model 112 he described more detailed. Does anyone own the tester / the instruction? Please help... Regards Norbert Add.: It has been much more easy to find informations about the D-Jet system in the USA than in Germany for many years, therefore I know some US-sites, too. Now we have a platform in Germany, German and English language oldtimer.tips. We try to find out everything about the system and how to repair the components. We are hobbyists mostly MB, but also BMW, VW, Opel, Porsche, Renault, Citroen, Lancia... all the car brands D-Jetronic was installed in. I by myself 'invented' a tool for re-adjusting the trigger points to the original values. Simple to be rebuilded if you have a lathe - I will send you a figure on request. |

Heh, I was going to suggest you contact Brad Anders and see if he has heard of the Ditron. Still worth a try, he is a D-jet enthusiast, and a nice guy to boot!
Also try Jeff Bowlsby. He has a decent amount of information available to him. The Classic Porsche 914 --DD

Thank you, Dave, for your advice...
I tried to contact Brad about 2 months ago. We had contact by email about 18 months ago, therefore I know his correct email-adress and my messages don't go to his spam folder. He wrote to me: "...your new tool and methods would be a good addition. I will let you know when I get an opportunity to update my pages." I know from social media he retired in the meantime - does another kind of job now. Maybe he lost the interest in the D-Jet-theme after so many years? Other persons from Germany had the same problems in contacting him. We all hope he is fine... But I will try to contact Jeff Bowlsby. I noticed his name before, but didn't make a try to contact him. Regards Norbert |

There are a lot of cars that used the D-Jet system and here is one site that lists many if not all of them. You could try checking various forums for these models to see who might also be able to help.

I actual have contact to owners and forums of various car brands, but the Ditron-tester wasn't common in Europe and I can get no help there. I noticed the information given about the car brands on Wouter's page is quite incomplete / incorrect. - The Cadillacs had a system designed by Bendix, not by Bosch - just used some Bosch parts - Manufacturers totally missing: BMW, Citroen, Lancia, Opel (fully Bosch-equipped) - Chevrolet Cosworth Vega E.F.I. used Bosch-components in a Lucas system - Toyota, Mazda, Isuzu used D-Jetronic systems licensed by Bosch Maybe those cars are not common in the USA, just have a look at this page you can see most of the fully Bosch-equipped ones on Regards Norbert |
