1975 914 2.0
Looking at a 75 that has been sitting for a long time. It was a storage (5 years inside and atleast one outside) settlement so still looking at a title issue. The seller wants 400.00 I found it while doing other business there.
Silver black interior looks complete but the fuel system has a singe carb installed but there are 2 carbs, 2 stacks and cross linkage in the trunk. And what looks like a brand new Bosch fuel pump in the box. Aftermarket headers and mufflers with no heat exchangers. Quick look around I see no rust or blisters anywhere lifted the carpets and all is solid no rust including the pedal area. Exterior is rough but not an issue for me I can paint. Located in North Carolina. Would this be worth going after even if the title is an issue. I will get a bill of sale from the current business. Terry ![]() ![]() ![]()

For $400, get it. Even if it has terminal rust, you could part it and make more than that.

Waiting to see if they can produce a title but does not look good. Is the parts market good for something like this? It is a shame as the only rust are two blisters in the paint on the side of the windshield that I could not poke thru one pencil diameter hole where the front right fender meets the cowel inside the wheel well. The battery box is solid and where I can reach around and under it has no rust, the battery platform is clean as well.
From my experience without the car on a lift to give a clear look the car as a whole it is not worth scrapping. But no title and no keys the car is either going to be crushed by them or I can part it. Not sure if the parts market can be smart, not my business but would rather contribute to the community and keeping our Porsches on the road or are they so cheap part wise that I'll kill myself on labor. Any suggestions on attaning a N.C. title? Terry

Most states have lost title search abilities. That might cost a little but could net you a title. Get the VIN and go to your state vehicle registration and tax collector to see what can be done. $400 and you can't possibly lose on this antique Porsche unless it's stolen property. There's more rust hidden but it still looks like a good candidate for restoration. These cars were rusting when they left the factory. You've looked at several of the worst areas. The front and rear trunk pans, under the fuel tank and behind the door handle insets below the sails are some more troublesome areas. It's the areas you can't see like inside the longitudinal that have no paint and certainly have some corrosion. If the car has dealer applied under coating (ziebart) peeling a bit of that back under the floor pan might reveal issues. Also, pull the carpet up and look carefully at the sound deadening as it cracks and let's moisture in.
I bought a '76 for $250 that was much too far gone to restore but I've sold over $750 in parts so far. So you won't loose on this deal.

This might take a while!!!!!!! Seems some bad goings on here. Car was in storage, car was moved from one area to where it is now, the guy with it has no legal ownership and will not contact the original owner. He will sell it to me but with no bill of sale or transfer of any kind. So I don't know if the original owner and the guy who took the car for storage fees have an issue or not.
So I will run the VIN by the PD and apply for owner history from the DMV to see if I can go any further. I would hate to see this one go away and not either help the Porsche community or be a road worthy car once again. Stay tunned might be some time before I know............................ Terry

Definitely worth well over $400 in parts alone. BUT ...
The fact that he will not even provide a bill of sale, let alone a title, would give me some pause for concern. Something smells fishy there. |

If it does not work out for you to obtain the car, I would certainly be interested, and I am a lot closer to it.

What, you've owned one now for about a month, right? And you're already looking to pick up another? Another one addicted...such a shame...

The years I was in the Italian car world, we always joked that ALFA stood for Always Looking For Another. Might have to come up with something silmilar for the P cars.
I have become quite smitten with the teener. |

It's all good. I think I waited about 10 months between purchasing my first and my second. And with that I ran out of garage space, wife's patience, and free time. Both teeners are always available to consume whatever free time I otherwise have. Or had. If I had more space, I'm sure I'd own another.

I bought my 1st 70' and 2nd 72' within 19 days of each other. The 72' for parts. I attended 3 auctions and 1 out-right "gotta sell", all within 3 minths of the purchase for the 70'. It's more of an addiction to "no rust" and lack of good parts that drives most bone collectors like us:-}
