Porsche Crest

The hood pins can be found at most parts stores, MrGasket makes them for sure.

You might try someplace like Cobra Restorers or Tony D Branda Shelby for better quality ones.

I'd start looking at a boat store for the rubber latches, they are likely to be stainless and hold up better. West Marine or Boat US probably has them.

The latches can also be found at Porsche Go-Fast shops. They are still used on 911 racers for the "vintage" look. (They also work pretty decently.)

I have been getting this kind of stuff from Pegasus Auto Racing Supply. http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/

Great selection and service for race-car hardware and accessories. Their main focus is on Formula-Fords, but a lot of these hardware bits are "generic", and they do also carry some Porsche-specific items.

I am in the process of having the correct plates made out of stainless steel. (The scuff plates that mount to the hood).

When I find out how much, I will post an announcement on the group to see if anyone wants to get in on a group buy.

Regards,

I was always a little confused about why these GT cars use 4 latches up at the front. Why would 2 not be enough? The Brumos car that is my current wallpaper is the same way.

Most 914 and 911 race cars I've seen with f/g or carbon lids do away with the hinges and springs/t-bars, and run 4 latches (1 at each corner). That is my plan if I ditch my steel lids.

Also, the rubber clamp thingies never seemed very secure to me, for race car use. Are they?

Brant and I postulated about that one day at the track. One theory is if the support sub-structure is removed (like on a steel hood to lighten it), or doesn't exist (fiberglass?) then it ends up being flimsy enough to require the additional two latches.

Remember that the original GT hoods were just a f/g skin that was reinforced with balsawood, so there's hardly any "backbone"

Most f/g hoods you can buy now have the innerstructure copied from a steel hood and should be strong enough to do with just two hoodpins in front

About those prices mentioned above... are you insane?????
How 'bout 10 to 15 bucks for either a set of 2 hoodpins or a set of rubber rear latches. If you have to pay much more, you're being ripped off
Ofcourse, if you insist on paying $150... gimme a call
