Windshield Installation Instructions

Looking for windshield installation instructions. I took out the original glass, restored the car and now ready to re-install the windshield. Asked a couple of local shops around if they'd install it but they only will do the job if they put new glass in. So, I figure I'll give it a shot myself.

thanks for any good links or instructions

This is probably useful:

Most places want to use glue. Butyl tape is supposed to give more with the flexing that our cars due. If too stiff, the windshield may crack. Having said that, mine was installed with the glue over 2 years ago and has been fine.

I also found most places don't want to touch the trim and will otherwise refuse to do it.

There is a black rubber trim that can be used in place of the shiny metal trim if the metal stuff got damaged. I think it comes from Chrysler vans or something? When I had the windshield replaced on the race car the glass guy knew what I needed and it looked good.

put the new butyl rubber in , add the new clips for the trim, have a friend help you place your glass in.

if you warm the rubber first, it will set in a bit smoother. but really the hard part was getting the glass out without breaking it.

restored? pics please!

In progress - just painted the Mahle wheels black leaving the 8 raised fingers Aluminum color. They look cool. Still a ways to go.
