Anyone changed out the big 1975 bumpers to the smaller chrome ones of earlier mo
This may seem like a strange request. I was thinking about replacing the heavier 1975 rubber bumpers on a 1.8 with the earlier model chrome bumpers. Any thoughts out there about how difficult this may be?
Thank you. |

Here's a great step by step:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=225743 Challenge is trying to find good condition, reasonably priced set of chrome bumpers. This is on my to-do list, but WAY down near the bottom. |

A little drilling, a little cutting, a little welding... Not that hard. You can even skip the welding if you can close up the holes in the body some other way. (The holes are hidden by the bumpers, so they don't have to look nice.)
The biggest problem is getting rid of the flanges on the sides of the car that the ends of the rubber cover hook to. --DD
