I was at the Daytona 24 Hrs when Porsche ran a factory 935, which looked identical to the one in the photo. It really looked good since it was a step ahead of all the private Porsches which had not yet gone to the slant nose shape. This was before Daytona installed the chicane on the backstraight and due to the high speeds tire loading in the banked turns always was a problem. The Martini 935 lost tires twice during the race and suffered suspension damage from hitting the wall. I happened to be watching from the turns when one tire went. The 935 had already gone past when it happened. It was early evening, cars had lights on, and I remember seeing the headlight pattern flash across the outer wall in the banking as the car spun.
