2.0 Fuchs Wheels
I`ve seem the Fuchs wheels both in all silver and silver spokes with black back ground. A friend said that all those with black are after market. Didn`t the origanals come with either. And if they could be had black or silver was there a differance in year offered. Dr.B.Johnson dosen`t mention anything in his book "914 A RESTORER`S GUIDE"

The original Fuchs four-bolt wheels had the recessed areas anodized a sort of milky finish. A number of dealers at the time had their staff paint the recessed areas black, probably to imitate the 911 "windmill" alloys.
All of the replica Fuchs I have seen have had the recessed parts painted black. The only way to really be sure is to look on the back of the rim. The real thing will have a standard VW part number starting with 914. E.g., 914.xxx.xxx.xx where "x" stands for any digit. (There is a specific number for the Fuchs, but I don't have it handy right now.) They will also show a stylized Fox-head logo. --DD |
