Wiring help for the 911 gauge cluster in a 914

One of the previous owners of my 914 installed a 5 gauge 911 cluster into the dash of my 1974 - 2.0 914. Unfortunately, whoever did it use mostly all red wiring to attach the additional gauges. As a result, I've got a very messed up wiring situation and would really like to clean it up.

Does anyone have wire color coding and for this type of 911 instrument dash in a 914?

Thank you,
Dan

Jump over to 914World.Com and you should be able to find an original '74 914 wiring diagram. I would start there. Also, plenty of 911 dashes have been added to 914s over the years. I am sure someone will pop up with a conversion diagram to assist. Good luck.

Actually, the wiring diagrams are available here: Pelican Parts - Porsche 914 Electrical Diagrams

You will have to look through them to find the gauges, but they are there.

Hi Dave,
I've used the flow diagrams with a lot of success. The trouble I'm having is how to add the EXTRA gauges I have with this 911 dash conversion. I've got an Oil Temp and Oil Pressure Gauge that needs wiring and I don't have a clue how to connect.

Best regards,
Dan

The gauges need power, ground, and a signal. Look for symbols on the back of the gauge. Ground is typically three parallel lines, each one shorter than the one on one next to it, so they look like a triangle. Power is very often "30" or "+". The signal is usually "G".
