brake calipers
are the front calipers on my 1975 914 the same as the early 911/912 porsche

depends on what model 911. but I would say no. The calipers on my 1970 S were giant.

They are not the same. Even the early calipers that were built for solid rotors are different from the 914 calipers, and of course the calipers that were used on vented rotors (which is most of them, I believe) are far too wide for the rotors on our cars.
Unless someone has swapped a 911 front suspension onto your 914, in which case the parts are 911 parts. --DD

The 914/4 used 42mm pistons while the 911, 912 & 914/6 used 48mm pistons. All used the same pad size, but late 914/4 used thicker pads. In some cases the castings were similar, and it may be possible to mount & use the 911 calipers. However, your brake balance will change and that could be a concern.
