O.K. Silly Question?
Are TypeIV motors supposed to have Valve Seals? You know under the springs on the valve stem.

They're listed in some factory references but not in others. And I have only heard one or two people (ever!) claim to have seen one on a Type IV engine.
So I think they're not really supposed to have valve stem seals. --DD

i just dismantled a 1.7, and i recall seeing a small, oring effect that i thought at the time was a valve seal. could've been cooked oil sludge playing tricks on me.

I just went and looked at my 160k never been rebuilt 1.7L motor. Nope, no seals! I have never seen em on a type 4.
