Appologies for thread gone bad
I would like to appologize to anyone who found several of the posts to the thread I started, "914 Pet Carriers", offensive. My intent with sharing the picture of the cat in the box was simple fun. Nothing malicious. I OWN 6 cats, a German Shepard, a Rottweiler, an Airedale Terrier, and a Cockatiel who kicks all their asses. I am sorry that there turned out to be a few individuals who don't know the difference between fun and tasteless crap that should be kept elsewhere. In the future, I'll keep my posts and responces to the topic of 914's. I have requested that the thread be removed from the board if at all possible.
Don

I had no idea that anyone was offended. That cat carrier has been around for awhile & I receive it quite often. Sounds like you have a menagerie similar to mine...6 cats, 2 Aussies, a Corgi and a Hawaiian Poi Dog! The only ones I can see getting offended are the ones that like Busch!

I would like to add that I was the one who contacted the moderator and sent polite, but to the point emails to Don and Mike about the posts. Yes, the intent was humor and it was funny to an extent. However, the potential for comments about animal mis-treatment were too inviting and I thought it best to eliminate the thread. To anyone who was offended by my actions, I too, apologize. It just struck a nerve. Turns out everyone involved has lots of cats. I just have one and therefore no mice in my glovebox, longitudinals, nests on cylinders or other places frequently mentioned. Now, I suppose I will hear from the folks with pet mice.

Bruce, Unfortunately, at least one person took offence. I had not intended to mention any names but Zeke did e-mail me to express his thoughts. I also have seen that other "carrier" several years ago. My feeling is that in this type of forum, if even one person is offended by something, it needs to be illiminated. I'm betting there were more than just one person who took offence, but just didn't say anything.
Probably best we stick to 914's and leave the pets out of it I guess. Although my first thought when Mike posted his carrier was that it would be better suited for removing small children from restaurants and grocery stores. Now That's Tasteless!! Don

I hate to sound as dumb as many people already think I am, but what does that mean. I've seen the responce several times and didn't ask so I wouldn't look stupid. But I admit it. I'm Stupid. But I won't learn if I don't ask. Thanks.
Don

I guess I should apologize too, cause I laughed heartily at both pictures. I've got 8 cats that have adopted me to be their permanent feeder. I asked them to speak up if they were offended -not one said anything!

ss6: Great point! The cats are really cool. It's the dogs that take over every so often! Especially the Rottweiler, Capone. He's as gentle as a kitten but when he wants something, the big buckethead is relentless! I'm just glad they let me keep my 914.

Don, I like the name Capone for a Rottie that's cool. I like the term buckethead even better! Alot of the dog trainers I work with have Rotties and they're all really great dogs and bucket heads too!

Loan Dog,
It is really depressing to think anyone would take offence at your Pet Carrrier kitty photo. I thought it was very funny and so did my wife. In fact, I copied and sent it to several friends of ours, all who have cats. My wife and I have three cats that we love and attend to as our companions. My black cat, Mephit, is 16 years old. I have had her since she was a weened kitten. She rides behind my head in my 914. Can you imagine why people would think your black kitty in the Busch box for a cute picture would be inhumane while they think nothing of cardboard cat carriers used to entrap cats, sometimes for hours while their owners carry them to the vet and them leave them with strangers over the weekend? I referred to my 914 so, I have Porsche content here. Phil |

I feel I started this whole sensative thing. But I never said that the cat in the 12 pack was inhumane. I thought the stuff was a little funny while some of you thought it was hilarious. To each his own. The potential for tasteless comments was too inviting. I just didn't want to see it come to that. Sorry to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Let's hear some good animal stories in your 914!

cats to cars ratio
You guys never cease to crack me up! There is a new rival to the crazy cat lady....the nutty 914 owner. I have one of each, as a matter of fact I think all 914 owners I know have at least one.
It is a tragic shame when we have to live life according to the thinest skinned individuals prefferances. I found the post by Mike to be a little over the top for my taste, but I have dealt with it and after hours of therapy am better . I still like and respect all of the members on the board, so your efforts to make this environment as universally user friendly as possible are commendable.Cheers, Mike (Busch beer is offensive to the tase buds)
