Split main bearing removal

Is there any trick to removing the crank bearing that is in 2 halves? Mine seems really stuck. Also, is it recommended to replace the seats in 1.8L heads if they are original? Thanks!

Ben

Grab it from the sides with a pair of pliers. Chanellocks.

It's probably not a bad idea to replace original valve seats. Today's materials should hold up better, and if your engine has been rebuilt more than once or twice the seats are probably getting pretty thin...

Glad Milt answered the bearing question, as I don't know that one...
