Help! need fast rebuild advice

I just found out my 2.0L case is shot. I have another early 1.7L case (heads have the small pushrod tubes) and I'm wondering if I can use that. The machinist said I need "30 under rod bearings for the 2.0L crank" and "10 under" main bearings. My questions are:

Can I use the 1.7L case for a 2.0L rebuild?
Is this crank too far gone or can I try using the 30 under bearings?

Thank you very much!

Ben

Yes, the 1.7 case is fine to use. There are no differences between the 914 cases except for the deletion of a bypass valve in '73 I think, and I don't there is much difference whether you have it or not.

I have a 1.7 case if you need one. Let me know, I make you a great deal (plus shipping) just to get it out of my garage.

Thanks a lot Mike. I have a 1.7 that has never been rebuilt before so I'm going to have the case checked out and hope it passes the test.

Early 1.7's don't have the oil windage tray. But you can transfer it along with everything else from the 2.0.

PS: And if you're _REAL_ nice to Mike95125's girlfriend, she might clean it for you....
