That has to be a mistake on the COA. There wasn't anything called "Yellowstone Leatherette" to my knowledge offered in any 914s. And the "56" doesn't look right for any interior color option that I can see.
Here is a great source for paint and fabric info: 914 Paint and Fabrics You'll see these are scans from original brochures and sample documents. In the 76 documents, you'll see that only black, brown (cinnamon?) and white were offered. There was a yellow tartan fabric, but it wasn't "yellowstone" and its code wasn't 56. Unfortunately, the COA is known to be less than perfect in many cases. There have been transcription errors (copying from old hand-written documents is often a source of problems), codes from other models applied mistakenly, or things that are just plain wrong that have shown up on some. I think you have one or more of these situations with your car. --DD

If your interior appears to be tan, then sure! It would look pretty sharp against the Sunflower Yellow exterior. Black is more common, and would still look decent.
I would see if you can contact PCNA and ask for clarification on the interior color, because the one they have listed does not appear to even be a 914 option. --DD

I own a 1976 914 with Yellowstone Leatherette/56. It is a yellow-tan color. It looks great with Viper Green Metallic paint. I have never seen the same color combination.
I do need to redo my interior and have been looking for material. I don't want black. Any leads? |

Interesting. Every time you think you know something about what 914s came with, they up and surprise you.
I think your best bet is to take photos and talk to folks like 914rubber, Autos International, and so forth that deal with replacement materials. You might be able to get samples if you ask nicely. See what you can get that matches your existing interior. --DD

As I remembered that I've already read something about "yellowstone" interior, I just checked my books.
In the paper back version of the Brian Long book (reprint from 2002) it says on page 158: Quote:

Yellowstone interior
Yellowstone/56 appears to be similar to Buckskin or tan, but slightly more yellow/golden.
