Perpetual Clutch Adjustment.

A t first it seemed my clutch was going south and was lucky to have some adjustment left. But it seems I am adjusting the clutch every 2-4 months for last 2 yrs.

Figured I would have wound the nut half way to the pedal by now.

Question is... How many people double nut the clutch cable. I have alway relied on the "original" nylon lock nut.

check the level at which the clutch pedal rests, should be relatively "flush" w/ the brake pedal. the same rolled pin thats been discussed here w/regards to tail shifters secures the pedal arm to the shaft in the pedal assem, this item can bend long before it completely fails, does the arm wiggle on the shaft?. when it does fail completely be ready to call a tow truck. the pedal itself adjusts in and out on the arm, or stretching cable or it's clutch time. i like to investigate the $1 items first.

I always double-nut the clutch adjustment. I tried using a Nyloc nut on it, it slipped the first day. Double-nut the sucker, and if the problem really is that the adjustment is un-adjusting itself, that should fit it.

M7 nuts; M8 will seem to work until the first time you step on the clutch. Then they'll shoot across the garage floor...

I had a similar clutch adjustment problem. Found that the stock nylock nut was worn and would "walk" itself loose from road vibrations. I put a jamb nut behind the nylock nut - never came loose again. I agree, double nut that puppy if only for piece of mind.
