Hello,
Got some gremlins in my headlight system... When I turn the headlights on, only the left works. When I turn the brights on, the right one will light up, but the left one wont... Arrgh! The headlamps seem to be fine (I switched them to make sure) The fuses _seem_ good -- I checked them at the fuse box with a multimeter. Any help would be appreciated. ![]() Thanks, Kris 77 911S

Possible headlight relay on the backside of the fuse panel. (underdash) All kinds of spooky things happen when one of them dern relays acts up!

My guess would be a ground problem somewhere. Old timer once told me when I was much younger that 80% of electrical problems are bad grounds.

Kris, if you didn't actually replace the fuses, i would give it a shot if the relay turns out to be good. i have seen 914 fuses appear to be good and even check good only to turn out to be bad many times. Good luck! hth peter

Kris,
You either have one or more blown fuses, corroded fuse contacts or headlight elements burned out. Your control circuitry is okey. Phil |

Time to tear the headlight covers off so you can check if you're getting +12V on the lowbeam and highbeam connectors at the appropriate time... That will also let you check your ground as well.

Yep. Stupidly simple! Just had to remove the fuses, clean them off, and reinstall.. Voila!
Thanks for the responses!
