Fog light restoration.
I've been restoring some orig. fog lights, and have one ?.
The chrome reflector thingy is gonna be re done. What type of coating is on the backside of this chrome piece? Looks like ceramic something or ?? Would high temp paint work? Or re-chrome the entire piece?? LMK what to do. ![]()

The concours judges would have to remove your bumper and dismantle your fog lights to get at the back side of the reflector inside the fog light ... paint polka dots on it if you want... nobody is ever going to see it ;-).....
Seriously though, I can't imagine it makes much difference to the performance of the light what you do with the back side of the reflector. Personally I don't like the look of the fog lights at all... Here is what I did on the current car.... the fog light holes are gone! - Dave ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't care if mine are original. Does anyone know any other light that fits the hole? Preferably something that takes a H-3 blub, I want it real bright.

http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders ; check for Neolite (or was it Autopal) fog light conversion. They'll probably be available at your FLAPS.
If you've got an original light, you can just take that to your FLAPS and compare with the lights they have in stock. --DD

There is a halogen 50 watt bulb that fits in the original round foglight and doesn't require any modification to the housing or wiring....
Regards, Karl

It's a secret... and it's going to cost you...
Actually... Try here. They are in England. I think the cost was around $32.00 for the pair plus a a few buck for shipping (maybe like $7.00 or so), but don't quote me. http://www.vintagemotorspares.com/clientph/brmm4.nsf/supppages/hodge?OpenDocument&part=7 You want bulb 423H. The are sold in pairs, and fit the special Bosch bayonet mount in the fogllight housing. I ordered them and they fit fine. Light out put is very noticably brighter and whiter. Also, spend the bucks for new foglight lenses two! And don't touch the bulbs with your fingers! Regards, Karl Ellzey

Dave, I think I saw those lights (bulbs) at my local FLAPS they could be bought seperate or as a complete utility light.
The pilot lights look nice, not available in Canada, the story of my life.

I replaced the old beaten up fog lights with pilots brand driving light.
I'm real happy with the result. Got them locally for around 70 cdn. Marc-André 70 914-6 conversion 3.0L Webers

I've had amazing success restoring light reflectors using "chrome paint", no kidding. Works much better than I expected, light output is very good and compared to a chromed reflector, only slightly less.
