Porsche Crest Electrical question

Have a 1970 914-6 where the license plate lights and engine compartment lights do not work. The bulbs are OK, the fuse is OK, and the ground connection appears to be OK. Any ideas on where else to check?

Phil:

Thanks for your response. I checked fuse #7 and it was OK. Looking at the current flow diagram I see the other side of the fuse goes to the hedlight switch. I wonder if that is where I have a problem?

Pin K on the headlight switch (gray wire) is the source of the voltage for the plate and engine compartment light. Pin K also has a jumper wire to pin 58B. Might be a loose wire there.

How did you check the fuse? They can be blown and still look OK. Check it by removing it, and turning it around a couple of times while looking. You may find that it falls apart in your hand when you do this...

Dave:

Thanks for your reply. I ususally check the fuse with a continuity tester and also rotate it a few times in the event corrosion has gotten between the fuse and the fuse holder.
