I just received my new water pump along with the belts, rollers , front end seals and oil cooler seals.
I do not see a gasket that matches the new pump flange, doesnt it come with a brand new water pump?? Please advice.. Thanks ![]()

The water pump should have come with the gasket. Unfortunately the paper gaskets that come with the rebuilt pumps are usually junk. Much better to order an OE waterpump gasket and use that.
If you ordered a new OE waterpump, it would not have come with the gasket, and for some reason, they do not come with the front end seal kit. AFJuvat

I'm in the same boat.....I bought a gasket "kit" (paid mega$$$) and I don't think I have a wp gasket. I have a sheet of gasket material that allows you to make your own custom gasket so I'm trying to decide to use it or pay for wp gaskets. Suggestions???

Have no eperience with "cut your own gasket) stuff
Had terrible luck with the paper gaskets Great success with OE WP gaskets If it were me, I would buy the OE one - you don't want to put in a gasket, then be tearing it all out again a few months down the road because it sprung a leak. AFJuvat

gt350mike, did you get a deflection plate on along with your new water pump?
Whats the point of ordering an expesive new version water pump if it does't include the basics, such as a gasket and deflection plate for the belt? Luckily I ordered new bolts.... F@#4#@ me sideways... I will order a new gasket, but you can trace one out if you have the right gasket material.

Deflection plate
Item I shows the water pump gasket that I did not receive.
Item II shows the belt deflection plate that is also missing. My question is this: IS THE DEFLECTION PLATE REQUIRED? Or is it just a bonus protection? Thanking you in advance Picture taken from www.944online.com ![]()

Yes, the deflection plate is required.
Your existing pump should have it if you have a turbo. AFJuvat

Thanks AFJuvat.
I dont know what version pump is in the car now. If it happens to be the older type water pump, does it have this deflection plate? Sorry to sound so picky, but I ordered these parts from the USA and shipped to Dubai, Middle East, it;s not like I can just take a drive and pick the additional parts up....geeezz

Yes, If I remember correctly, I have a deflection plate. Since I've never seen a gasket until today, I ASSUMED the the gaskets were small in size (like a thermostate housing gasket for a V-8). Since they are not (thanks for the pic) I'm ordering one in the morning. What sealer works best????

I used DIY gasket on my water pump and it works fine. You don't have to trace it. Just put the material on the pump sealing surfaces and LIGHTLY tap it with a hammer. A good impression of sealing surface will impose itself on the material, and it's easier to cut. I put a little blue silicone on mating surfaces to ensure no leaks, but I don't think you have to.

any quality material will work really nicely, as long as you don't crush (overtorque) it!

Its "Summer Yellow". Don't know why they came up with a faggish name like that, but I can't think of a better name. You might have seen Ross T's car, it has the same yr and color, but he stuffed in a 968 motor. Now I would believe if his car claimed 150+mph (are you reading this EuroSPEC)!

Well, I have just received an email from my parts supplier, and he claims that the new type water pump, ( see picture above ) does not come with a gasket or a belt deflection bar.
Geez, like we all know this, it's like buying a pair of shoes with laces, but laces are sold seperate. 924SFAST, The above pump is the newer uipdated pump, make sure you order the gasket and deflection plate seperately... ![]()
