perfomance of a 89 944?

Sorry don't mean to sound thick but I cannot find anywhere the performance figures for a 1989 2.7 944!!! I can find ones for a 944S and wondered how they rate compared to.

I would like to know what the supposed 0-60 mph time is. If there is anyone out there that knows I would be more than grateful. Why is it that they made the 944S with 16v at 2.5 but then brought out the 944 2.7 8v? this has always confused me.
Cheers. Was the S faster than the 2.7? Im Confused!
BTW what are the perfomance figures for the 944S?
Cheers

the 89 2.7 had roughly 162 HP - on par with a early Euro Spec NA (83 - 86).

Seeing them on the track against the earlier cars, there isn't much of a difference.

No idea about 0 - 60 times, but they should be a little better than the standard NA, though not by too much.

S model has a bit more power yet at 188 HP.

Once in a great while whenhell freezes over 0-60 times are like 4 seconds if you live in Eurospec's neighborhood, everything is better there. But in the rest of the world times are in the mid 6.5-8. range.. nice car though post a pic eh?....

ASS I never said 4 seconds. Altitude though has a lot do with performance of the car. If some of you had noticed in your neighborhoods or geographical locations (i.e desert, coast, mountains, inlands) air becomes less dense the higher you go up. I live near sea level where the air is more dense and humidity is present. it's always best to test a car where the air is more dense so that the volume of air entering the intake is plentiful.

The 89 2.7 should be around 7.0-8.0 in the 0-60 like that page says. Interesting how the drop in horsepower of the US models affects the performance figures. :grr:

Really interesting how similar the stock 968 #s are to the stock 951s- I had no idea. I suppose $1000 in mods would change that in a hurry
