Can you post pictures? Even if you are using the lower mark the OT mark will still line up perfectly...

Sherif123 09-29-2018 10:38 PM

I tried posting pictures but doesn't work, can someone tell me how?

Sherif123 09-29-2018 10:46 PM

Wondering if the belt is not right honestly but that's the second one from the dealership, and I haven't seen anyone say anything belt related... cause I'm literally off by half a tooth, and that can't be, even if I messed up a sequence it should at least throw me off by a tooth..

mattdavis11 09-29-2018 10:58 PM

Are you using a gates belt? I've encountered a problem before with gates, doesn't line up.

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:05 PM

Yes, porsche gave me a gates belt, I do have the first belt I got from napa that I could try on again..

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:06 PM

What belt did you use, maybe I'll give that a try

mattdavis11 09-29-2018 11:06 PM

You found the problem. Contitech.

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:07 PM

Nooo wayyyy that's the problem whattt!!!

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:08 PM

Wich belt should I get ?

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:09 PM

Contitech, but doesn't the Contitech come with different pulleys than the stock ones on, and isn't their belt fitted for their upgraded pulleys

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:13 PM

Can you send me a link to wich belt I need to specifically get

mattdavis11 09-29-2018 11:14 PM

It's OEM. WFT more could you ask for? What year do you have?

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:19 PM

1984 944 na

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:20 PM

I mean I figured the dealership would at least give me the right one

mattdavis11 09-29-2018 11:21 PM

Go contitech. Dealer doesn't stock parts for 30 year old cars, they supply (if at all) with aftermarket.

Edit. They do stock OEM parts, but we are concerned with a rubber belt.

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:24 PM

Will do that, can you please send me a link to the exact one I need

Sherif123 09-29-2018 11:27 PM

Just cause I want to make sure I don't need the Contitech full kit, and can just use the belt on my stock pulley, cause I heard that could make a difference also, you know better

mattdavis11 09-29-2018 11:33 PM

Your flywheel will have to identical marks but one won't say OT and they are easily mixed up. The mark with the OT is the only one that you can can go by on an early car and is why you must verify you are using the correct one. There should be no reason why the marks won't line up perfectly...

I have that bottom flywheel notch that lines up with the "U" on bellhousing on both my '86 951 and '85.5 NA.

Ah, yeah I just checked the PET so engines M44.01-02 (1982-1985.1) have flywheel number 944 102 051 00, while M44.05-09 (1985.5-1988) have 944 102 051 01. I have an 85.5 and 86 here and I didn't remember seeing that mark, but just went out to check two '86 engines that I have on stands that had it too. So I just missed it, I mostly just go by the OT mark anyway. That said, his '84 won't have the notch since it should have the early flywheel. Thanks!
