Goodbye, Senior Headgasket...

I will miss you terribly.

It looks as if my head gasket has made a hasty departure from this earth. It started out with a slight puff of white smoke after the car warmed up. I was instantly worried that it was coolant, but couldn't really smell any.

Later on, on the way home from work, it turned into a huge cloud of white smoke. Not good. It REALLY smelled like coolant. And the engine is definately missing, now.

I guess I will get the opportunity to change my timing belt early this year. :-). Any suggestions while I am down there? I will have full access to a machine shop and people to teach me how to use it (university shop:-). I am thinking a thourough overhead job while in there.

Thanks!

Valve guides, seals, valves and seats checked for spec.

Head surfaced if necessary.

You already did the vacuum hoses, so that should be good to go.

May consider re-sealing the front of the engine while everything is torn apart.

I agree with AF - Do all the seals now, it'll save you from having to do them later. Good Luck.
