Tow Hook $ DME Qustions
Had no idea the tow hook was needed. Searched the trunk, no hook. Had a few heart palpitations when I saw the prices for this threaded nothing. Soooo, is there an option, or do I have to suck it up?
Second....searching on the DME, apparently 993-615-227-00 is the replacement for the one in my 968 which is 944-615-227-00 . Is this correct? Thanx.

Tow hooks are less than $50, search for a genuine Porsche hook for a 996/Boxster it’s the same and about $35, here’s one.
The part number you quoted is for a DME relay and not the DME. If it is actually a DME relay you are looking for then that part number is good for a 968. You may also want to consider this one as it is far superior and much less likely to fail.

the 968 dme went through two revisions. 944.618.123.02 is the last revision after December '91.
tow eyes are cheaper than the damage a tow hook will do to a control arm or axle. |

It’s just terminology, the actual “DME” is the engine control unit under the passenger floorboard, whereas the “DME Relay” is a relay in position G5 that everyone carries a spare off.
