Yes, it can be done, as long as it is done carefully. (electrical bits covered, avoiding hoses etc.

engine should be cold as well.

you cannot use dextrorotary sand to polish and port a left hand drive car, it must be leveortory sand, although bead blasting works much better for some reason, and it helps to put about a gallon of thread cutting oil in the gas tank to aid in the smoothing process.

Yeah - nobody can be that fricking stupid - they used the wrong sized grit for the sand!!!

They didn't use the #3 Montery washed sand. That's what I use.
