Isolated an annoying source of wind noise.

I was developing an enormous amount of wind noise which seemed to come from the windshield, side mirrors or from the A pillar regions on both sides, even at low speeds, which become deafening on the highway. It was really annoying. Nothing jumped out at me for awhile until one day I noticed this piece of trim was SLIGHTLY out of place on both sides of the car. I pushed on it and it seemed to "snap" back into place. I'm not sure if it is held on with clips etc? In any case, the noise is totally gone, save for some whistling now lol. It would certainly be a place to inspect if you have a similar problem and I think its probably a common source of wind noise that is easily overlooked. My 944 is a LOT quieter now.

If anyone can enlighten me on this piece of trim please do. Should I put some silicone sealant in this groove?

Yes it just snaps on and is held in place by clips. Don’t use anything silicone anywhere near your car especially bodywork. If it comes unclipped again then you may have to remove the trim and replace all the clips behind it.

To be honest it’s highly unlikely the clips are compromised unless the trim has been off before and was put back on using the old clips. Has the car been previously repaired in that area or had any paintwork done?

Are you speaking of the black rubber/plastic seal around the windshield? Mine came loose so I removed it and what a wind racket it now makes. I am looking for advice on how to repair or replace it. Do I need to order a new one? Should it be glued on, too?

Thanks for the tip! Yes indeed the car was repainted and everything came out so that makes sense.
