Porsche Crest injector caps

this is my first post on the pelican forums, so sorry in advance if i do something wrong.

so I ordered some new injectors (not oem) for my 83' 944 while i wait for a shop to reopen so i can get the old ones rebuilt. the new ones i bought came and upon installing them i noticed they are missing the "pental cap". i installed them completely and it feels like they fit but i didn't try starting it because i don't want to take any chances. does anyone know if they will still work without the pental cap or does it even matter? thanks for reading!

Yes absolutely needed. You need the full seal kit including the pintle cap, two o-rings and the spacer. The o-ring is how the injector seals to the intake manifold and the pintle cap holds the o-ring seal and spacer on the injector. There is a 2nd o-ring at the top of the injector to seal where it goes to the fuel rail. Buy the seal kits from pelican. Normally sold separately from the injector.

Don't even attempt to start it without these seals or you could have fuel everywhere. Also if you are doing the work yourself, do it outdoors, have a fire extinguisher handy and pressure test before starting by using a DME jumper.

Be very careful...

If you get the ones that are too long, I think it's OK to hog out the opening so they do not interfere with the spray, they really just need to be there to locate the O ring. Maybe 4mm.
