Console 'key' switch function??

This one just has my curiosity up...

On the later 944 console are a row of switches above the shifter. My 4th switch has a red light and 'key' symbol on it. I'm not sure what this switch is for. My only guess, since I don't have an owner's manual, is that it's factory alarm related. The light comes on when the ignition key is turned on otherwise it's off.

Does anyone know what this switch does and how it works?

That switch is for the power door locks. It is supposed to light up when the doors are locked. Sounds like your is malfunctioning. They can get all messed up when aftermarket alarms are put in poorly.
