Weltmeister 250-350 progressive springs, 50 mm wider track in the rear, KYB sport shocks all around, sport seats, 10 cd changer, front and rear sway bars, head work, cam, above factory spec compression (engine seems to have been rebuilt at some point, don't exactly know if compression was increased), but according to my G-Tech, when I had my Jacobs ignition, borla cat-back and down-pipe, the car had 173hp at the wheels. I'm currently running 225/50/15 Yokohama AVS intermediates front, and 245/50/15 Dunlop SP 8000s in the back. Oh, while I'm at it, ATE Cross slotted rotors, and Pagid Orange (semi racing) pads, along with braided SS brake lines, and ATE super blue racing brake fluid. The car's got a SACHS lightened sport clutch kit, with a Jacobs ignition coil, and wires. (The Jacobs' MSD unit isn't on the car anymore).
I've been "down grading" this car for a while, about 4 months ago it was really special, but since I've decided to auto-x it, I've been selling many parts off of it. Oh, btw, I have the front springs, and the downpipe left, and by this Sunday, I will finally be in a stock class, with ONLY the allowed mods of optional sway bars, wider rear track (by 50mm, the max allowed limit), and a good set of tires. I will also be running my car with the head as is, which's not stock (it's mild, but not stock), and the front (but at the rear of the control arm) control arm bushings are polygraphite, I've changed the fronts, but for the rears (on the front control arm, the bushings that control toe out/caster) cost too much, and I'd need an alignment afterwards, so they're staying. I trust you all not to tell anybody... The car has been quite reliable to me, and for anybody looking to improve a 944, specially an NA, I suggest you go with suspension brake upgrades first! You might surprise yourself with just how much better the car will be... And if you have a turbo, you're just getting started... THAT is why I'm going to sell my car... Cheers, Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

I've got an 84' 944 Guards Red with polished fuchs running 225 55 15's in the front and 245 50 15's in the rear, Borla cat back exhaust. I don't want to brag, but hey heres a chance; my interior is pretty nice, dash cracks fixed, new OEM shift boot and leather steering wheel cover, and my grey leather seats are in good conditions with no tears. I've taken claim for the nicest 85'1/2 and under 944 in the middle Tennessee arear

Here's a list of the mods to my '84. Borla Cat-Back exhaust, K&N Filter, Weltmeister throttle cam, Weltmeister 250 lb progressive springs, KYB shocks front and Rear, ATE slotted rotors, ATE Super Blue Race brake fluid, Stainless brake lines, polished 16" Fuchs w/ Yokohama rubber. The best mod on my car though, one that will really improve perfomance beyond all belief,....a 4 foot high Supra style spoiler. Yep...that baby makes my car just about fly, and it looks great. Just kidding about that last one.

Ahmet, just curious to where you have the cd changer located? I have one I would like to put in but I'm not sure where I want to put it at.

My cd player was (and still is) located behind the driver's seat, on the floor, in an enclosed case that matches the car's interior, it's covered with (brown) leather.
If you don't use the back seats (not many people do), than this is a good enough place, away from the elements, unlike the hatch area, which is another place to put it, if you're sure there are no leaks. Yet other places; in the glove box, or just under it, on top of the passenger foot-well area. Good luck, Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

I have a 6 disc CD changer in the right side of the rear compartment area. You know where I'm talking about? If you open the hatch you got two small compartments on both sides under cover. I think it's the only sensible place to put it in a 944.

Thats what I was thinking, LT. I wasn't sure how good it would work back there. Do you just have it bolted to the side?

I mounted my CD changer under the glove box. It was very easy to mount there, since the glove box is plastic you don't have to drill through any sheet metal. Plus, it's right next to the receiver, so I don't have to run long cables anywhere, and it minimizes the length of the audio cable.

Tim, yea, it's mounted on the side. It was mounted professionaly, and has been absolutely perfect. I highly recommend using that compartment. I have an Alpine amp mounted in the other one.

No, there's no way a CD changer will fit inside the glove box. Maybe you could cram the little Sony MiniDisc changer in there, though.

I put my Alpine 6 disc CD changer in my glove box because I never use it. It required no drilling or anything because there was already a hole for the cord to go out.
lm6y: Don't get bashful on us. I know yours is cool because I've seen it. You also have the best sounding 944 I've ever heard. I'll let you know how mine sounds as soon as I get rid of the cat in the next few days. |

hoff944, do you have an early car? Or maybe a late one with no passenger airbag? The glove box on my '88 951 is way too small to fit any CD changer in there.
