83 944 AC Dash Vent
Just picked up my 1983 944 after having the clutch and slave cylinder replaced. When the AC is on and idling the cool air comes out of the dash vents. When accelerating the dash vents close and the fan motor sounds starved as though a door has closed. Release the accelerator and the cool air flows through the dash vents again. Is there a vacuum line somewhere that needs to be reconnected?

Were the vents working ok before you had the work done on the clutch master/slave? If so, I'd look in and around the areas where the mechanic would have been removing things and working, especially around the area of the brake booster. Look for broken/cracked/loose vacuum hoses and fittings.
Also, check the little vacuum reservoir bottle that is attached to the cowl under the hood, up next to the battery and air inlet. Make sure that it isn't damaged or that it doesn't have a loose/cracked hose anywhere. I think that this reservoir is specifically designated for use in the operation of the ac/heating controls. |
