924, interference or not?
I keep hearing conflicting reports, but it should be obvious. Will a broken timing belt be a nucence or a disaster for me?
|
If you own a 2L 924........the engine is not an interference engine...
So sleep well at night :) |
yay thank you, I am getting that as the dominating answer, but I did not want to make a big mistake!

Pike... the 924 models, including yours, if it is stock 2 L. engine, is a
non-interfering; i.e. no crash bang at belt failure. the 924S models, have a stock 2.5 L. engine, like the plain vanilla 944 models, and it is an Interfering engine, when the timing belt snaps. Be joyful, but keep the belts, et al, in fine shape; no failure is good. M'reel (red, '79 924) |
924 Turbo (931) is an interference engine.
