Identify Struts from a 1986 944 with Option Code 456

Hello -

My new-to-me 1986 944 has a 456 build option (nice surprise, actually). I went to get a look at the struts to see if they were "Konis" but the struts are black so I am guessing not. However, based on the overall character of the car and the owner history I would be a little surprised if the struts had been changed out...but it's a 35 year old vehicle...so...it's not entirely unlikely.

Below is a link to a photo of one of the struts and the stamped codes on the side of it. Can anyone help me identify it? Thank you!

According to Clark's, they were a sport option. Didn't name them, so I'm guessing they're Sachs. Although looking at the M474 (which are Koni's) they weren't named either. So I dunno. I can't find that part number in the PET.

I have the yellow Koni's on my 86 951, my pop had an 84 with the stock black painted ones, I guess yours are stock style shocks? Koni and Billstein are a good option..

This is my build tag and the original struts that I took off last year.
I have a base 86 944.
The original struts were upgraded to Koni inserts a few years ago after removing the original mechanism and oil that came in them originally.

I didn't have the upgraded suspension option that you have.

I don't know if this info is any help, but, There you go.
Good luck
