Easing Off Pedal Equals More Power?
Something I’ve noticed particularly while accelerating (in “spirited” mode) on uphill climbs - that when I really get on the gas pedal (but never mashing it to the floor), the car feels like its keeping just a bit of something back. But if I then let off the pedal very slightly…I get a smooth boost of power.
Obviously, I’d like this boost to occur in immediate response to direct pedal pressure. I don’t notice this tendency so much while driving on the flats…but mostly on hills. Nor do I notice this while driving in a “normal” (non spirited) manner. Could this be a timing issue? Vacuum issue? Hmmm…. Last edited by OK-944; 08-01-2022 at 04:45 AM.. |

You might be running lean. Short of installing a wideband O2 sensor, you can check fuel pressure and flow rate, and smoke the intake for leaks. You could also do a test run with the TPS disconnected to see if the computer is doing something wonky at WOT.
How is your AFM?

I had this happen on a Chrysler that I once owned. It was the spark plug wires.
