Difficulty Removing Centre Console (on Tiptronic)

I have everything loosened and removed ready to pull out the centre console but there is a piece of plastic that loops underneath the big metal switch unit at the top left of the tiptronic set up and runs along the top end of the console and down the sides.

The piece of plastic marked with the arrows is attached to the centre console and the large switch in the top left runs through a gap between the console and the plastic bit. The plastic runs right around the top and down both the left and right hand sides.

i.e. the switch sits on top of the plastic piece marked with the single red arrow.

I can't see any way of dismantling this other than cutting the plastic strip ???

Any help appreciated.
