86 951 bad radio reception

I can't get my AM stations to work at all. It appears to be the antenna amplifier. Does it take Voltage or a ground to make it work because i metered the the wire going to it and it had no voltage?
Thanks
Thom

Yes, it requires 12V on the wire, and it is grounded through the mounting bracket. If you don't have any voltage on the wire that connects to the antenna booster (with the ignition on), then you need to get some power to it some other way. I had the same problem and just connected it to the power antenna wire on my new receiver, but I've been getting poor reception again lately, so either the connection has come loose or I burned out the power antenna output on my receiver... does anyone know exactly how much current the antenna booster is supposed to draw?

I dontl know what the current draw is supposed to be but hooking the antenna booster to the power antenna lead from your new receiver was the right move to begin with. It has probably come loose.

I hooked it up to my radio's power anntenna connection. But I Don't see why you couldn't hook it to the radio's ignition connection that turns your radio on when you turn your key.
Thanks
Thom
