getting radio out

Does anyone know how to get the radio out of a 944? I see little holes at the 4 corners but have never taken a radio out. Do u push a little nail in the holes and pull. I haven't a clue. Help!

Yes, if you have a standard Blaupunkt radio, just push four little nails into the holes and this will push the metal spring retainers away from the housing so that you can remove the radio.

do u have to push all 4 at the same time? Yes, its a regular Bleapunkt montery. What kind of radio will fit back in and do I need a special kit. My old oneis shot.

Yes, it helps to push in all four at the same time. Just grab four little nails, and they will work fine.

Any standard single DIN radio will work...I installed a new JVC radio in mine a couple of months ago. You will need to remove the metal housing that holds the radio in the console, and a new one will come with the radio that you buy...this part will usually screw into the console, and the radio will slide inside it.

As far as wiring goes, the radio that you are removing is a two channel radio, and the front/rear balance is adjusted by a dial on the console that is not part of the actual radio itself. Most new radios will be four channel radios, which means each of the speakers will be controlled by its own channel. You should really find a way to wire the new radio this way.

I think there may be a few recent posts on this subject if you perform a search. Personally, I used the front/rear fader to get at all four speakers, because it is close to the radio, and gives you access to all the wires you need in one place...plus, you can always just get a new fader switch if you ever decide to restore the vehicle to concourse condition (or perhaps not)...
